I have no success to gloat about on my own behalf, but I do need to gloat for a few of my dear friends. Bethany just signed with a humongo impressive literary agency, and Cindy just sold a novella.
Yay!!! These are signs of much more success to come. Nake Page People rock.

Hey, thanks guys! I'm now with Writer's House!!! The manuscript I was signed for is YA, though I have another adult manuscript that I'm going to make Jamie read before I show it to my agent.
Oh, evidently Cindy needs a pseudonym. Has Jamie suggest Chesty Larue yet, Cindy? (That was Marge Simpson's psedonym on a Simpson's episode)
And Bethany's Young Adult manuscript is like so freaking good she's going to blow away those dumb Gossip Girls and A-List books as soon as an editor gets a clue and buys it.
And Cindy's novella that she sold is so over the top sexy I had to go take a cold shower after I read it. Whew. Good stuff. I TOLD her it was going to sell. Heh. I love it when I'm right.
Yes, Cindy. What about Chesty LaRue? Or we can borrow from the Jaded Shaft mad libs story and you could be Polly-Esther Hose.
Why Hose? I don't know. It's 95 degrees in my apartment. Maybe I'm dreaming of being hosed down. Or something.

Um I think perhaps that should be spelled McNude and Nudie McLewd. Yes. This same anonomous person has recently realized that she (or maybe he) has a strong aversion to using and then in their writing. Also due to aforementiond unfortunate movie?
Even in my own rough drafts, I use a rather lordly pen name. :-D Whether it'll ever see the light of day remains to be seen. :-) I may even say it here someday... :-)
Just talking about pen names makes me all gooey inside. Since there is already a romance author out there with my name, I have another one picked out and the domain name saved. ;-) Just hope I get to use it.
My idea for a pen name is so boring, I always intended to use my Grandmother's name with my initials. I guess if I was writing romance I would try to come up with something better, but fantasy just doesn't seem to call for it in the same way.
One of my husband's friends is so George Costanza like, that he has his ideal name (Costanza like Art Vandelay). My husband's friend likes Chance McCaffrey. Is that too funny?
I meant to say the Costanza liked Art Vandelay. Must proofread. And I fancy myself a writer............

Also, there should probably be some rule about posting in the midst of an altered state, or maybe a general encouragement to do so.

Theresa, I tend toward generic sounding pen names too, but actually, my preference for a name is that it just not sound made up.
I don't even remember if I had a pen name picked out for if I couldn't use my real name (occasionally publishers get weird and don't want the name to sound too "ethnic" or something).
I remember one of your pen name choices clearly, Jamie, but I won't divulge it here (email me privately and you'll understand why).

You know what- I think there shouldn't be an apostrophe in Writers House. Lately I've been putting apostrophes everywhere, and I haven't even been reading 8th grade papers. Next I'll be mixing up there their and they're. Is it summer laziness or the naked page making my brain so fuzzy?
Super Stop & Shop has their July releases out now, which is about right, actually, for their timing. Must have happened Saturday b/c Joanne's (Joanne Rock's) June release was up Friday and your July was up last nite.
Oh crap, now I have a book out and nothing on my website about it. This is a sign that the author's life has fallen into dissaray...or something. I've never let my website get so outdated.

I don't think it's one I was trying to finish late last year--that would be my October book.
And YES, Lauren and Carson WILL get their own story. Lauren is my favorite character ever, and she gets much more interesting when she has her own story, and that's all I can say without giving away the proverbial farm. Well, actually, I have to sell Lauren's story before I can say she will have her own story--but she does have one. It just exists mostly in my own head right now. My editor has the proposal, so fingers crossed it sells.
I wasn't trashing it, Jamie. :-) Just wondering. It's actually on a par with Seduction. :-)
And also... how do you get names for your characters? I don't like my method, although it works. I end up going to places like babynames.com and finding weird names... or at least unusual ones. OCCASIONALLY I'll get a good name and it'll stick in the story like a twig in mud but that doesn't happen that often.

I usually just think up a name for my characters that seem to fit the personality I want to project for them. But sometimes nothing comes to mind and I have to flip through my baby name books or go searching for names online. I have more trouble with last names than first names, for some reason.
Last names are a NIGHTMARE for me... but sometimes for some reason, they come easier than first. As for your paranoia being soothed... no problem. any time. :-) And you're welcome. :-)
