Naked Page People Successes

I have no success to gloat about on my own behalf, but I do need to gloat for a few of my dear friends. Bethany just signed with a humongo impressive literary agency, and Cindy just sold a novella.

Yay!!! These are signs of much more success to come. Nake Page People rock.

Wow, congrats to both Cindy and Bethany. Your success gives me hope!

Wooo, Cindy, I already replied to your PRO post. Congrats both of you!! Which literary agency, Bethany? Do you write romance or something else?

YAY ladies! :-)

Hey, thanks guys! I'm now with Writer's House!!! The manuscript I was signed for is YA, though I have another adult manuscript that I'm going to make Jamie read before I show it to my agent.

Oh, evidently Cindy needs a pseudonym. Has Jamie suggest Chesty Larue yet, Cindy? (That was Marge Simpson's psedonym on a Simpson's episode)

At 8:14 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

And Bethany's Young Adult manuscript is like so freaking good she's going to blow away those dumb Gossip Girls and A-List books as soon as an editor gets a clue and buys it.

And Cindy's novella that she sold is so over the top sexy I had to go take a cold shower after I read it. Whew. Good stuff. I TOLD her it was going to sell. Heh. I love it when I'm right.

At 8:18 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

Yes, Cindy. What about Chesty LaRue? Or we can borrow from the Jaded Shaft mad libs story and you could be Polly-Esther Hose.

Why Hose? I don't know. It's 95 degrees in my apartment. Maybe I'm dreaming of being hosed down. Or something.

Congrats ladies. :-) Really. *raises glass of Korbel* Here's to many more sales for the two of you and to future first (and many more) sales for all the other Naked Page ppl. :-D

OMG, just what I need, a Naked Page round of pseudonym suggestions! LOLOL.

Bethany, congratulations again!

I'd post the pseuds I'm considering here, but who knows what spambots might pick it up or some nitwit who'd go buy up the .coms just to piss me off!

Bethany, it's super cool we had great news the same week, huh? Now, watch, Jamie, you'll get a ton more readers. They want good news, too! You're our lucky rabbit's foot, maybe?

I'm usually the lucky rabbit's foot. Anyone who rubs emails with me in RWA gets published. Finally, it came back to me.

Congrats, Bethany and Cindy!

Oh, and Cindy, I've got it:
Diva LeDance. Sexy yet sophistocated.

Perfect!! :-)

Hey there Shannon! Perfect pen name for Cindy.

When is your book coming out? Is it still called Venus Envy? It had better be because that's the coolest title ever! Hope to catch up with you at National.

hmmm, I'm not thinking of any good pen names right now, I was sure I would have a ton of them. Of course I have one held in reserve for me. . . .

Sorry- the anonymous writer of this post is/was highly influenced by Dude Where's My Car?

Jesse: Who's Johnny Potsmoker?
Chester: Oh ,that's my alter ego.
Jesse: Wait, I thought Johnny Potsmoker was MY alter ego.
Chester: No. Yours is Smokey McPot.
Jesse: Oh yeah.

At 5:09 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Um I think perhaps that should be spelled McNude and Nudie McLewd. Yes. This same anonomous person has recently realized that she (or maybe he) has a strong aversion to using and then in their writing. Also due to aforementiond unfortunate movie?

At 9:42 PM, Blogger Tim said...

Even in my own rough drafts, I use a rather lordly pen name. :-D Whether it'll ever see the light of day remains to be seen. :-) I may even say it here someday... :-)

At 9:57 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just talking about pen names makes me all gooey inside. Since there is already a romance author out there with my name, I have another one picked out and the domain name saved. ;-) Just hope I get to use it.

At 11:01 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

My idea for a pen name is so boring, I always intended to use my Grandmother's name with my initials. I guess if I was writing romance I would try to come up with something better, but fantasy just doesn't seem to call for it in the same way.

One of my husband's friends is so George Costanza like, that he has his ideal name (Costanza like Art Vandelay). My husband's friend likes Chance McCaffrey. Is that too funny?

At 11:02 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I meant to say the Costanza liked Art Vandelay. Must proofread. And I fancy myself a writer............

Anonymous, I have a strict rule that if you post anything funny on my blog, you have to reveal your true identity. So that I can properly humiliate--er, I mean praise--you.

Also, there should probably be some rule about posting in the midst of an altered state, or maybe a general encouragement to do so.

At 3:13 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

Plushie McPogo-Girl...it has a nice ring, but imagine trying to fit it in big letters on the cover of a book.

At 8:07 PM, Blogger Tim said...

No kidding right?! :-D It is rather humourous. :-D ... ALSO... WHOO HOO FOR ME TONITE! I scored me my first copy of TSQ! :-D YEEE HAWWWW! :-D Can't wait to read it... but got two other romances to knock off first. :-) So by Monday at latest it should get tarted... er... started. ;-)

At 9:44 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

What? Ermm, is my book already in stores, or do you belong to the book club, Tim?

BTW, I WILL be mailing everyone's books out someday very soon. My life is kind of chaotic at the moment, but I always do mail out the books...eventually. I swear.

Theresa, I tend toward generic sounding pen names too, but actually, my preference for a name is that it just not sound made up.

I don't even remember if I had a pen name picked out for if I couldn't use my real name (occasionally publishers get weird and don't want the name to sound too "ethnic" or something).

At 1:38 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I remember one of your pen name choices clearly, Jamie, but I won't divulge it here (email me privately and you'll understand why).

Cindy
nearly decided on a pen name but not quite.

Oh, Cindy, I didn't tell you congratulations here, so, "CONGRATULATIONS!" I yelled it. And thanks for my congratulations. Isn't it nice to pat one another on the back? The rest of you guys get to work so we can congratulate one another!

You know what- I think there shouldn't be an apostrophe in Writers House. Lately I've been putting apostrophes everywhere, and I haven't even been reading 8th grade papers. Next I'll be mixing up there their and they're. Is it summer laziness or the naked page making my brain so fuzzy?

Super Stop & Shop has their July releases out now, which is about right, actually, for their timing. Must have happened Saturday b/c Joanne's (Joanne Rock's) June release was up Friday and your July was up last nite.

At 7:00 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

Oh crap, now I have a book out and nothing on my website about it. This is a sign that the author's life has fallen into dissaray...or something. I've never let my website get so outdated.

I hang my head in shame. I know, I know, Cindy, you offered to updated it for me...and I'll get that stuff to you soon. Really!

At 7:47 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

You'd better, Jamie, or we'll never get a new GT column up!

But, uh, wait until I have my full off to Brava. I'm so behind.

Cindy

And, Bethany, thanks!

Hey Jamie: is TSQ the one you were trying to finish over a weekend back end of last year? Just wondering. :-D

At 4:41 PM, Blogger Tim said...

Also... I'm already on pg 114 and wondering: are Lauren and Carson getting their own story? ;-)

At 8:15 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

Gosh Tim, is it so bad it reads like I wrote it in one weekend?

I don't think it's one I was trying to finish late last year--that would be my October book.

And YES, Lauren and Carson WILL get their own story. Lauren is my favorite character ever, and she gets much more interesting when she has her own story, and that's all I can say without giving away the proverbial farm. Well, actually, I have to sell Lauren's story before I can say she will have her own story--but she does have one. It just exists mostly in my own head right now. My editor has the proposal, so fingers crossed it sells.

At 8:41 AM, Blogger Tim said...

I wasn't trashing it, Jamie. :-) Just wondering. It's actually on a par with Seduction. :-)
And also... how do you get names for your characters? I don't like my method, although it works. I end up going to places like babynames.com and finding weird names... or at least unusual ones. OCCASIONALLY I'll get a good name and it'll stick in the story like a twig in mud but that doesn't happen that often.

At 4:46 PM, Blogger Jamie Sobrato said...

Okay Tim, thank you for soothing my paranoia. :-)

I usually just think up a name for my characters that seem to fit the personality I want to project for them. But sometimes nothing comes to mind and I have to flip through my baby name books or go searching for names online. I have more trouble with last names than first names, for some reason.

At 9:13 AM, Blogger Tim said...

Last names are a NIGHTMARE for me... but sometimes for some reason, they come easier than first. As for your paranoia being soothed... no problem. any time. :-) And you're welcome. :-)

Generic Cialis is an oral drug, used for treating male impotence, also known as erectile men's erectile dysfunction. Generic Levitra helps increase blood flow to the penis and may help men with ED get and keep an erection satisfactory for sexual activity. Generic Viagra is the medicine that is recommended by doctors worldwide for erectile dysfunction. It is the chemical composition of both forms of this drug and helps to cause erection on stimulation of the penis by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 which causes smooth muscle relaxation and a better erection.
